2026 Participatory Budget: Citizens Invited to Submit their Projects
True to its commitment to fostering a culture of public participation, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is officially launching the fifth edition of its participatory budget. Citizens are invited to submit a project between September 8 and October 2, 2026.
For the 2026 edition, the participatory budget once again includes a general fund of $65,000 and a youth fund of $10,000. In addition, the Écoprojets Community Fund, with a budget of $25,000, will return in spring 2027 to support environmental projects. In total, $100,000 is being allocated to citizen participation.
“Recently, the inauguration of the community orchard, which resulted from a previous participatory budget, reminded us just how much citizens’ ideas can take shape and make a tangible contribution to our community. With the launch of the 2026 edition, we are once again inviting residents to propose projects that reflect their needs and aspirations. Every initiative submitted helps shape a more dynamic, inclusive city that is more closely connected to its community. I therefore encourage residents of all ages to participate in large numbers and seize this opportunity to turn their ideas into reality,” said Mayor Paul Dumoulin.
General fund
Any Vaudreuil-Dorion resident aged 18 or over may submit a project, either individually or as part of a team. Participation is on a personal basis. Associations and corporations may not submit projects, but a resident may receive support from an organization or institution.
Youth fund
Any Vaudreuil-Dorion resident between the ages of 12 and 17 may submit a project, provided they are accompanied by an adult who co-signs the application form.
To be eligible, submitted projects must meet certain criteria. Environmental projects, for their part, must be submitted at a later date as part of the 2027 Écoprojets Community Fund. From October 12 to 16, a coordinating committee will assess the eligibility of the submitted projects and determine which ones will be put to a public vote.
Starting November 2, citizens will be able to vote for their favourite project on the City’s website or at the municipal library, until November 27. Each person may vote only once. The winning projects will be announced when the 2027 budget is presented on December 14, 2026.
