Partial opening of the Henry-Ford roundabout starting October 7
The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion informs residents that it has received a notice from the ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) confirming the partial opening to traffic of the roundabout at the intersection of rue Henry-Ford and boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes.
The reopening is scheduled for October 7, starting at 5 a.m. This is excellent news for the many residents living near the Henry-Ford area, who will once again be able to travel along the northern portion of rue Henry-Ford after several weeks of construction-related disruptions. Access to the Cité-des-Jeunes area will also be restored. However, some temporary restrictions and sections with alternating traffic will remain in place as work continues between rue Henry-Ford and rue des Floralies.
Although the roundabout will be open to traffic, some work will continue until October 23 to complete the infrastructure surrounding the area’s two roundabouts. During this work, the right-hand lane of boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes (westbound route 340) will remain closed between rue Jean-Béliveau and boulevard de la Gare. The right-hand lane on boulevard de la Gare will also be closed in both directions.
“The partial reopening of this second roundabout marks an important step in improving traffic flow and accessibility in this key area of our city. We know that residents in the Henry-Ford area have been particularly affected by the work in recent weeks, and we are pleased that they will regain more direct access to their neighbourhood and the Cité-des-Jeunes area. These improvements will help make travel smoother and safer while facilitating access to the future regional hospital, a major project for our entire community,” said Mayor Paul Dumoulin.
This is the third roundabout to open in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The first, located at the intersection of the autoroute 40 service road, boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes and avenue Saint-Charles, has been in operation for nearly twenty years. The second, located at the intersection of boulevard de la Gare, boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes and the westbound autoroute 30 exit ramp, opened earlier this year.
The Ville encourages motorists to remain alert when first driving through the area and to obey the posted signs as work continues.
Residents who would like to learn more about navigating roundabouts can visit the Work Info section, which includes frequently asked questions and an informational video.
ROUTE HARWOOD CLOSURE FOR APPROXIMATELY FOUR MONTHS
Starting October 12, work carried out by Canadien Pacifique Kansas City (CPKC) will require the complete closure of route Harwood between rue Henry-Ford and chemin de la Petite-Rivière. Once this work is completed, the MTMD will take over to repair the culvert beneath the railway overpass. The work as a whole is expected to take approximately four months.
The Ville thanks residents for their patience and understanding throughout this construction project.
