Partial Opening of the New boulevard de la Gare Roundabout
The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion confirms that it has received official notice from the ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) announcing the opening of the new roundabout located at the intersection of boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes, boulevard de la Gare, and the westbound Exit 2 ramp from Autoroute 30. The new roundabout will open to traffic tomorrow, July 24, 2026, at 5 a.m. This confirmation follows the release, yesterday, of information explaining how to navigate a roundabout.
This new infrastructure is part of the redevelopment of the area in preparation for the future hospital. It will improve traffic flow, reduce vehicle speeds and enhance safety for all road users. Whether operating with one lane or two, the roundabout is designed to be simple and intuitive to navigate. However, until construction of the Henry-Ford roundabout is completed, traffic will circulate on a single lane only. In addition, the section of Route 340 Est between boulevard de la Gare and rue Henry-Ford will be closed to traffic.
This is the second roundabout to become operational in Vaudreuil-Dorion, but the first with two lanes. The single-lane roundabout located at Exit 35 of Autoroute 40 Est, providing access to avenue Saint-Charles and boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes, officially opened on November 20, 2006.
"Construction is progressing well, and we know that a project of this scale is never easy for motorists. We are now completing the 13th week of work in this area, and each milestone brings us closer to the long-awaited opening of our new hospital, a major project for the entire region. The opening of this roundabout marks an important step forward in the broader ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable project, which continues according to schedule. Additional phases will follow, but we are making steady progress toward completing all the infrastructure required," said Mayor Paul Dumoulin.
Construction of the second roundabout, located at the intersection of rue Henry-Ford and boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes, will begin on August 3.
The City encourages motorists to drive carefully during the first few days following the opening and to follow all posted traffic signs.
