The former library at 51 Jeannotte Street will become the Maison de la culture

As the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion prepares to undertake major renovation work on the exterior of the building located at 51 Rue Jeannotte, it has confirmed that the building will house the future Maison de la culture.

This announcement was first made by Mayor Paul Dumoulin on June 3, during the unveiling of the 2026–2036 Cultural and Heritage Policy, before artists, organizations, and partners from the cultural community gathered for the occasion. The Maison de la culture is directly aligned with the “Infrastructure Development” pillar of this policy, which aims to provide foundational and adaptable cultural infrastructure that meets the current and future needs of the population.

The building that housed the library—which was relocated to the municipal hub in May 2025—required major renovations to ensure the building’s long-term viability. The restoration of its exterior envelope is the first step toward its transformation into a cultural center.

“Many residents were attached to this building and wanted it to continue serving the public. Today, we can confirm that it will remain a gathering place dedicated to culture. This decision marks an important milestone and responds to a request clearly expressed during the consultations surrounding our Cultural and Heritage Policy,” explains Mayor Paul Dumoulin.

The City Council and City staff are currently continuing their discussions regarding the layout and specific uses of this future cultural center. Details will be revealed as the project progresses.
