Municipal Departments
The administrative component of the municipality, headed by the Director General, is made up of 11 departments providing local services to citizens. They are located in several different buildings in the territory.
Director General's Office
As Director General, Mr. Olivier Van Neste ensures the overall administration of the City. He oversees and coordinates all municipal services with a view to meeting citizens' needs. He is assisted by Assistant Director General Mélissa Côté and reports directly to the Mayor and Municipal Council.

Land Use
This department is made up of the Urban Planning Division, the Permits and Inspections Division and the Municipal Patrol Section.
The Urban Planning Division ensures the coherence of the territory's development in harmony with the City's objectives of guaranteeing, among other things, the quality of life of residents while promoting the emergence of innovative solutions to meet major urban challenges.
The Permits and Inspections Division works in collaboration with its citizens in the process of obtaining a permit and ensures the application of municipal by-laws through inspections and surveillance throughout the territory.
The Municipal Patrol ensures proactive monitoring in order to protect people and property and ensures compliance with municipal regulations in force throughout the territory. On the road seven days a week, it guarantees support, via the 311 network, of all non-urgent intervention requests.

Communications
The mission of this department is to ensure effective communication between the municipal government and its audiences: citizens, media, employees, organizations and businesses. Its main responsibilities include internal and external communications, media relations, advertising, promotion, protocol, organization of certain public activities, management of the City's visual identity, development and updating of the website, social media, and production of documents for public distribution.

Engineering and Environment
The Engineering Division is mainly responsible for planning infrastructure, construction and maintenance projects, preparing the related drawings, specifications and cost estimates, ensuring administrative control of project execution, and overseeing all construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure, buildings and roads.
The Environment Section provides support and expertise in environmental management and sustainable development of the territory. It sees to the development, implementation and revision of policies, procedures and awareness programs for environmental protection. It also provides front-line service for citizens by offering advice on environmental matters.

Water Department
The Water Department is responsible for the operation and management of water treatment facilities for the entire territory of the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion.
The treatment and distribution of drinking water is handled by a filtration plant, ten wells and five pumping stations or booster stations. The Water Department ensures the quality control of the six water supply networks within the territory of Vaudreuil-Dorion and our facilities also supply the cities of Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac and Île-Cadieux. Moreover, together with the Finance and Treasury Department, the Water Department is responsible for the management of water meters.
In terms of environmental protection, wastewater treatment is carried out by a main treatment plant and two secondary treatment plants. Some twenty pumping stations ensure the proper functioning of the various sanitary and storm sewer systems. The Water Department is also responsible for the regulatory application and quality control of wastewater discharges from industries, businesses and institutions in the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Finance and Treasury
The principal mission of the Finance and Treasury Department is to ensure effective and efficient management of the City's finances and administrative policies while ensuring strict application of the Cities and Towns Act and the Municipal Taxation Act, among others. This department is responsible for financial management, taxation, collection of all City revenue, expenditure accounting, payment of invoices and payroll treatment.

Clerk’s Office and Legal Affairs
The Clerk’s Office and Legal Affairs Department provides the legal and administrative support necessary to Municipal Council meetings and their follow-up, in particular by preparing and distributing the agenda and minutes. It's also in charge of the procedures for bylaw adoption, tendering and bid opening, and publishes the public notices required by law. It receives and manages claims against the City. As the designated person in charge of access to documents, the Clerk receives and responds to requests in that connection. The Clerk keeps all City records and conducts auctions of properties with unpaid property taxes. Lastly, the Clerk acts as chair in all municipal elections and referendums.

Information Technology and Geomatics
The Information Technology and Geomatics Department advises municipal departments and provides all IT-related services (software updates, deployment of new applications, management of IT assets, training, etc.). It's also responsible for keeping the City up to date in geomatics. Geomatics consists in gathering descriptive and geographic data, as well as data on land use, systems management, environment and public safety, to provide a highly accurate picture of the municipality that can be used to ensure better management of the territory.

Recreation and Culture
The mandate of this department is to provide quality services related to the arts, culture, documentation, recreation and community life. It supports organizations in the community so that citizens can have access to a variety of activities. It also manages the municipal library, which offers documentary resources in various forms to meet citizens' needs in terms of education, information, culture and recreation.

Human Resources
The Human Resources Department supports the municipal organization in its mission to provide citizens with excellent services.
As a support service, it helps implement management practices that will attract and motivate competent, engaged employees. Guided by the City's values of respect, teamwork, leadership, integrity and efficiency, it offers its expertise in hiring and staffing, labour relations, occupational health and safety, and organizational development, compensation and benefits, as well as the implementation of social legislation, such as the Pay Equity Act and the Act respecting equal access to employment.

Fire Department
The Fire Department ensures the protection of people and property throughout the territory of Vaudreuil-Dorion. It manages firefighting services, develops and implements safety programs, and responds to emergency situations. It responds to various types of calls, including fires, traffic or boating accidents, and hazardous material spills.

Public Works
This department is responsible for the efficient and preventive maintenance of parks, green spaces, sports facilities, aqueduct and sewers networks, and roads and signage. It also ensures sound management of all municipal facilities, buildings, machinery, and equipment. It is also responsible for contract management and procurement.
