Tour de piste: An emotion-filled evening celebrating 20 years of the Festival de cirque Vaudreuil-Dorion

Last night, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion held the opening reception for the Tour de piste exhibition, presented in the lobby of the municipal hub until November 15. Bringing together residents, elected officials, festival contributors and long-standing partners, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Festival de cirque Vaudreuil-Dorion (FCVD) and pay tribute to those who have contributed to its development over the years.

Through photographs, archival videos, iconic objects and unique artifacts on loan from Yannick Gosselin, the exhibition traces the evolution of an event that has become a fixture on the regional cultural scene. The exhibition also highlights the special ties forged with the international circus community, as well as the community’s deep attachment to the festival.

“This exhibition is a testament to the creativity, boldness and commitment of everyone who, over the past 20 years, has contributed to the success of the Festival de cirque Vaudreuil-Dorion. This event is here to stay, and its circus roots will play an increasingly central role in its programming,” said Mayor Paul Dumoulin.

Founder of the FCVD and creator of Canada’s first international circus competition, Yannick Gosselin said he was moved to see this history showcased: “As we make our way through the exhibition, we rediscover not only the evolution of the festival, but also the dreams, encounters and collaborations that made it possible. I am delighted to see these memories shared with a new generation of residents and artists.”

Vincent Bastien, Director of the Service des loisirs et de la culture, who has overseen the Festival de cirque Vaudreuil-Dorion for the past ten years, highlighted the event’s ability to continually reinvent itself while preserving the qualities that have been its strength since the beginning. “This exhibition reminds us that the festival’s true success rests on the dedication of staff who care deeply about this event, as well as the partners, artists and residents who have helped make it much more than simply a festival: a summer tradition deeply rooted in our community,” he said.

Patrick Richard, who developed the concept for the exhibition, emphasized the importance of preserving this collective memory: “Tour de piste is, above all, an invitation to revisit 20 years of boldness, emotion and discovery. We wanted to create an experience in which objects, images and personal accounts interact with one another to tell a profoundly human story.”

Conceived by Patrick Richard, curated by Chantal Séguin and featuring graphic design by Philippe Corriveau, the Tour de piste exhibition offers an immersive journey into the world of the FCVD, from its bold beginnings to its renewed commitment to the circus arts.

The exhibition is presented free of charge in the lobby of the municipal hub from September 29 to November 15, 2026.
