Indoor pool

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion operates the indoor pool at the Cité-des-Jeunes campus in conjunction with the Centre des services scolaires des Trois-Lacs. It offers free swim times and swimming lessons for both children and adults.

COVID-19 - Instructions to follow

  • The vaccination passport, including a proof of identity (with photo for people aged 16 to 74), is required to participate in activities and events organized by the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, in accordance with government directives. This measure applies to persons 13 years of age and older.
  • Wearing a face cover is mandatory for persons 5 years of age and older inside the building at all times, except when swimming.
  • The locker rooms are mixed. Showers and saunas are not available. No lockers available in the locker room.

Reservations

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, government-imposed measures restrict the number of people who can use the indoor pool. Therefore, reservations are mandatory and must be made online two days before the desired period, starting at 9 a.m. Registration by phone is also possible for people who do not have access to a computer (450-455-3371, option 4). No reservations will be accepted on the voice mail. 

Free swim is reserved for residents for solo or family use only, until public health measures are relaxed. Citizen card required.

Swimming lessons

Registration

Registrations will be held online via « Mon inscription ». It is important to create your account on the registration platform 48 hours before the opening of registrations, if you have not already done so. To create an account, as well as to register, residents must have a valid citizen card. Registration by phone is also possible for people without access to a computer (450 455-3371, option 4). In accordance with Public Health requirements, the winter session classes are offered privately. A family bubble can also be created if swim levels are similar. 

Possible groupings (for the same family):

  • Preschool (all animals) and Junior 1-3 (up to 3 children in these grades can attend classes together. Important: one parent per child is required)
  • Junior 4 and 5 (up to 3 children of these levels can attend classes together)
  • Junior 6 to 10 (up to 3 children of these levels can attend classes together)

Procedures

Procedures for creating your account

Cancellation and refund

For any change or for a refund request, complete the refund or transfer request form (in French) and send it by email to the Recreation and Culture Department. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals unless a medical certificate or other supporting documentation is provided.

In the case of a cancellation by the City or a justified cancellation request, a credit will be issued to the account in proportion to the service not received. For refund requests by cheque:

  • If the request is sent prior to the start of the event, an administration fee of 10% or $10 (whichever is greater) will be deducted from the amount to be refunded.
  • If the request is sent after the event has begun, the amount of services rendered must be added to the previous calculation on a pro-rata basis.

Red Cross Swim Preschool and Junior 1 to 3

  • Schedule: January 22 to March 13, 2022 (8 weeks)

Red Cross Swim Junior 4 to 10

  • Schedule: January 22 to March 13, 2022 (9 weeks)

Water Safety Instructor Course

  • Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years of age on the last day of the MSA - Classroom and Pool component, be able to perform the stroke and technique of Red Cross Junior 10 Swimming, and have a Bronze Cross certification (current or not).

Bronze Medal - intensive course

  • Additional costs: Certification (60 $), manuel Canadien de sauvetage (60 $), pocket mask (18 $), antiviral filter ($5)
  • Prerequisites : Minimum 13 years of age and Bronze Star certification.

The Bronze Medal certificate allows you to work as an assistant lifeguard starting at the age of 15. It is valid for 2 years, if used as a work permit, and valid for life to register for the Bronze Cross certificate

  • Additional costs: Certification ($60). If the candidat does not have a pocket mask ($18) and anti-viral
  • filter ($5), they may purchase them from the Recreation and Culture Department. 
  • Prerequisites: To hold the Bronze Medallion award and be 13 years old on the day of the exam

The holder of a Bronze Cross Award is entitled to work as an assistant-lifeguard in a pool (15 years and older) and on a beach (16 years and older). It is valid for 2 years if used as a work permit and has no expiration date if used to register to a Distinction or National Lifeguard award.

National Lifeguard - Pool | offered in March 2022 (dates to come)

  • Online registration Residents: January 18, 8:30 a.m. | All: January 21, 8:30 a.m.
  • Course duration: 40 hours + exam
  • Thursdays 5:30-9:15 p.m. and Fridays 5:15-9:30 p.m. Exam: Friday, April 15, 6-9 p.m.
  • Cost for residents: $ 195 | Cost for non-residents: $ 235
  • Additional costs: Certification ($100), Alerte manual ($52), pocket mask ($18)
  • Prerequisites: Hold the Bronze Cross Certification, and first aid and be at least 15 years old on the day of the exam

The national lifeguard certificate allows you to work as a lifeguard from the age of 17. It is valid for a period of 2 years.

Introduction to scuba diving

Suspended (pending further government action)

Practice of basic exercises such as mask emptying, ear balancing, regulator recovery and underwater adaptation.

  • Online registration starting November 22, 8:30 a.m. (for all)
  • Class dates: Saturdays, November 27, December 11 and January 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Ages 12 and up (12 and 13 year olds must be accompanied by an adult) 
  • Residents cost: $35 / class | Non-residents cost: $42 / class

Diving equipment is provided (fins, mask, snorkel, tank, regulator and jacket).

Informations

  • The swimming cap is mandatory for all.
  • For safety reasons, children under 6 years of age and those carrying a floating device must be accompanied by a responsible person in the water.
