The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion Pays Tribute to Maxime Deschamps
The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion paid tribute yesterday evening to figure skater Maxime Deschamps, prior to the municipal council meeting. Mayor Paul Dumoulin presented him with the City’s Medal of Honour and invited him to sign the City’s Book of Honour, recognizing the entire community’s appreciation for his remarkable career.
Originally from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Maxime Deschamps began his journey at the Club de patinage artistique régional de Vaudreuil and remained loyal to the organization throughout his career. Through perseverance, determination and hard work, he reached the highest levels of his sport.
Over the years, he has distinguished himself on the international stage, notably winning the gold medal alongside his partner, Deanna Stellato-Dudek, at the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal, gold at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships that same year, and three consecutive Canadian championship titles from 2023 to 2025. In 2026, he also fulfilled a lifelong dream by representing Canada at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
“Maxime’s journey is a remarkable example of passion, discipline and resilience. Through his achievements, he has put Vaudreuil-Dorion on the map around the world and become a source of pride and inspiration for our entire community. We are pleased to pay tribute to him today,” said Vaudreuil-Dorion Mayor Paul Dumoulin.
Having announced his retirement from competitive figure skating in July 2026, the athlete is now embarking on a new chapter in his career and hopes to pass on his experience to the next generation of skaters as a national-level coach.
