Update – Road Improvement Work on Route 340 (Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd.)

Phase Changes Scheduled for August 2 and 10, 2026
Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion wishes to inform residents of several important changes related to the progress of construction projects in the Cité-des-Jeunes and route Harwood sector.
The work being carried out on boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes and the surrounding intersections is part of the road network preparation for the future Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital. The work on route Harwood consists of emergency repairs being carried out by CPKC.
Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable Closure – August 2, 10 p.m. – Construction of the Henry Ford Roundabout
The ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable will fully close route 340 between boulevard de la Gare and rue Jean Béliveau from August 2 at 10 p.m. until the end of October. This closure is required to construct the roundabout at the intersection with rue Henry Ford, an essential infrastructure project that will improve traffic flow and safety in this strategic area.
Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes – Jean Béliveau Sector and pont White
The intersection of boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes and rue Jean Béliveau, as well as pont White, will reopen on August 3.
Route Harwood – CPKC Emergency Work
Beginning on the evening of August 2, one lane will reopen and traffic will alternate between rue Henry Ford and chemin de la Petite Rivière, with flaggers on site 24 hours a day. The truck restriction will remain in effect.
This work has been extended due to the CPKC flaggers' strike, which has been ongoing since May 31 and has caused significant delays to the project.
August 10 – New Phase of the Redevelopment Project – Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes Between rue Émile Bouchard and Floralies / Bill Durnan
Alternating Traffic – August 10 to Mid-September
Traffic will alternate through this section until mid-September. This measure is necessary due to the narrow roadway and the proximity of the work to rivière Quinchien, which limits the space available to maintain two traffic lanes.
Important: For safety reasons, pedestrians and cyclists are asked to avoid boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes within the construction zone.

Closure of Access to rue Émile Bouchard – August 10 to Mid-September
Access to rue Émile Bouchard (north side) will be closed beginning August 10. Various infrastructure works are planned, including excavation for electrical conduits for streetlights and traffic signals, as well as the installation of storm sewer pipes. As a result, motorists will not be able to turn onto rue Émile Bouchard from boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes, and pedestrians will not be able to cross the intersection from the south side to the north side.
Reminder: Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes will remain open to traffic, with alternating traffic through this section.
Impacts
- Pont des Nénuphars will be closed.
- Pedestrians and cyclists will be required to use pont White.
Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion has given clear instructions to the contractor to reopen access to rue Émile-Bouchard as soon as conditions allow and to ensure that the closure remains in place only for as long as necessary.
