Water main flushing underway

The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion wishes to inform residents that unidirectional flushing of the blue network (formerly Vaudreuil) and fire hydrant inspections will begin during the week of June 1st. The work will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. over a period of approximately two months.

Flushing consists of increasing the water flow velocity within the distribution system in order to remove particles and debris that may accumulate on the inner walls of the pipes. The operations are carried out using predetermined flushing routes to ensure more effective cleaning.

This large-scale operation may cause a slight drop in water pressure and may also result in temporary reddish-brown discoloration of the water. This can cause certain inconveniences, including staining of fabrics. Residents are therefore advised to do their laundry and run dishwashers between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weekdays, and at any time on weekends. If the water appears rusty, simply open the cold-water tap in the bathtub and let it run until the water becomes clear. Despite its appearance, the water remains safe for consumption and presents no health hazard.

To determine which water distribution system serves a property, residents are encouraged to use the search by address tool available on the City's website. For additional information, please contact the Service des travaux publics at 450-455-3371.
