Monitoring – Flooding
Current Status – April 17, 2026 (morning)
The Organisation municipale de sécurité civile de la Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion (OMSC) met this morning to review the situation regarding spring flooding.
Over the past few days, the City had been in monitoring mode (green level). As of today, based on the most recent data released yesterday by agencies responsible for monitoring water levels, the City is now moving to alert mode (yellow level).
At this time, nothing indicates flooding on the scale of 2017 and 2019. However, the situation remains dynamic and is being closely monitored.
Based on data to be released over the coming hours, an update will be issued this afternoon, including any preventive measures that may be implemented.
The City invites residents to remain attentive to upcoming communications and to follow the situation through its official platforms. We also recommend signing up for the Citizen Space to receive important updates promptly (via phone call, email, or text message).
Recommended Preventive Measures
As a precaution, residents are encouraged to:
- Check that their sump pump is functioning properly and ready to operate continuously if needed
- Ensure that the backwater valve is in good working condition to prevent sewer backups
- Clear drains and window wells around the property to facilitate water drainage
- Monitor sump pits and basements, especially during heavy rainfall
- Prepare a 72-hour emergency kit in case of unforeseen circumstances
In the event that the situation worsens, it is recommended to:
- Move valuable items and electrical appliances out of the basement
- Store important documents in a safe place
The City reminds residents that the situation is being closely monitored and that necessary measures will be implemented as needed.
