Complete closure of Harwood Road between Henry-Ford Street and Petite-Rivière Road: significant disruption beginning April 13

The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is informing residents that Harwood Road (Route 342) will be completely closed between Henry-Ford Street and Petite-Rivière Road starting April 13 for approximately 10 weeks. This closure is necessary to allow for repairs to the railway bridge owned by Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), which was damaged last summer.

During the work, local traffic will be maintained on both sides of the bridge for residents and businesses. However, no through traffic will be permitted in this area, and detour routes will be clearly marked with temporary signage.

CPKC crews will work around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to complete the work as quickly as possible.

“We are aware that this closure will cause significant inconvenience for many road users. However, we have worked closely with our partners to ensure that this work can be carried out now, rather than coinciding with the major construction projects planned for the area. That would have made travel much more difficult,” said Mayor Paul Dumoulin.

An area to avoid

The City urges drivers to plan their trips accordingly and to avoid the area whenever possible while the work is underway. The intersection of Harwood Road and Petite-Rivière Road will be particularly affected.

Additional information – upcoming work

The City would also like to remind residents that major roadwork will take place from May through November in the area around the future Vaudreuil-Soulanges Hospital.

These measures will include, in particular:

  • the renovation of Cité-des-Jeunes Boulevard;
  • the construction of roundabouts at the intersection of Gare Boulevard and Henry-Ford Street.

This work will, in turn, cause significant traffic disruptions. The coming months will therefore be particularly challenging on the surrounding road network.

The schedule may be subject to change depending on actual construction constraints and weather conditions.

All of these projects aim to ensure safe, smooth, and sustainable access to the new hospital, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2027.

The City thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation.
