Winter Fun in Vaudreuil-Dorion
From January 18 to February 14, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion invites residents to make the most of the winter season with Plaisirs d’hiver. Residents of all ages are encouraged to get moving and have fun at parc-nature Harwood and parc de la Maison-Valois.
“Parc de la Maison-Valois and parc-nature Harwood Nature are among the most popular destinations in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The activities offered as part of Plaisirs d’hiver provide a wonderful opportunity to rediscover them under a blanket of snow. Throughout the winter, several sports facilities are also available to residents in both parks,” said Paul Dumoulin, Mayor of Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Parc-nature Harwood
Two introductory activities for all ages, made possible through financial support from the ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration du Québec (MIFI), are scheduled for January. On January 18, residents will be able to try fat biking, with no registration required, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An introductory cross-country skiing session will also be offered on January 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents of Vaudreuil-Dorion may reserve their spot by registering online starting January 12 at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the activities. All equipment will be provided free of charge, and hot beverages will be available at the welcome pavilion.
Parc de la Maison-Valois
Residents are also invited to take part in three events at parc de la Maison-Valois. On January 31, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Snow Day will offer a wide range of family-friendly activities, including horse-drawn carriage rides, giant games, live animation and music, as well as access to the ice rink loop and sliding hill. Equipment rentals will be available free of charge to Vaudreuil-Dorion residents.
Thanks to financial support from MIFI, visitors will also be able to participate in a “Flavours from Here and Elsewhere” workshop and tasting, hosted by Décor Gâteaux Montréal, as well as a Latin singing workshop led by the duo Tierra Mía, featuring Mexican singer Selena and Chilean singer-guitarist Ricardo.
Sports enthusiasts are invited to take part in Sports Day, on February 7, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Several disciplines will be featured, including soccer, flag football, and ball hockey, as well as the opportunity to try para ice hockey sleds on the ice rink loop. Les Toasters will also be on site to offer an introductory snowskate session on the sliding hill. Equipment rentals — skates, snow scooters, snowskate boards, and snow tubes — will be free for residents.
Finally, on February 14, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., a special Valentine’s Day skating activity will take place on the ice rink loop. Roaming entertainment and romantic movie-inspired background music will create a festive and romantic atmosphere. Skaters who arrive wearing a Valentine’s Day accessory will be treated to a themed hot chocolate. A limited number of skates will be available for free rental to residents.
Schedules and activities are subject to change without notice due to weather conditions. Residents may call the Info-Cancellation Line at 450 424-8502 to confirm whether activities are taking place.
The full program is available on the Plaisirs d'hiver page.
