Lumin'Art, 1980s flavor
From December 5 to February 15, the parc Le 405 will be illuminated every day between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. for the sixth edition of Lumin’Art, which promises visitors a colorful experience this year. The 2025 exhibition, entitled Multiplicité and designed by artist Philippe Corriveau, will feature self-portraits, the pop art movement, and neon colors. The unveiling will take place on December 5 at 7 p.m. in the company of the artists and numerous participants in the project.
The new artistic project depicts a giant Rubik’s cube featuring self-portraits by 16 artists from Vaudreuil-Dorion, inspired by the 1980s. At the same time, 345 students from de l’Hymne-au Printemps, des Légendes, Papillon-Bleu, Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau, and Saint-Michel Elementary schools also took part in creating their portraits. Finally, 39 teenagers from the Arts-études program at Cité-des-Jeunes
High school, accompanied by their teachers Nancy Lépine and Marie-Laurence Bruens, took part in a large-scale cultural mediation project with Philippe Corriveau. They first created works inspired by Andy Warhol’s pop art technique, before continuing the process by creating a free self-portrait, guided by their own inspirations. These works are projected in the form of an animation retracing their creative process, revealing the richness and diversity of their artistic universe. This project, carried out in the Caravane Mozaïk, was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications, as was the entire Lumin’Art 2025 exhibition. It should be noted that in addition to the new works created this year, there are several projects from previous years, including light boxes, barrels, and speech bubbles.
“Lumin’Art has become a true winter classic for our entire community. The parc Le 405 is once again serving as a place for people to meet and discover new things, showcasing works that reveal the creativity, diversity, and boldness of artists and citizens of all ages. Congratulations to everyone who contributes to the success of this magnificent exhibition,” said Mayor Paul Dumoulin. Original music
For the second consecutive year, the soundtrack accompanying the exhibition was composed by four young people from the Arts-études – Music program at Cité-des-Jeunes High school. Clémentin Bérubé, Steven Bodika, Alexy Crevier-Guindon, and Rulin Xu, with Saanvi Saanvi as artistic director, drew inspiration from the theme of Multiplicity and the 1980s to create an immersive musical experience.
“The 2025 edition of Lumin’Art promises to be nothing short of spectacular! ” said Karine Marin, Cheffe de section Arts et Culture at Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion. “We wanted to immerse visitors in a dazzling atmosphere that is decidedly different from previous years. I would like to sincerely thank all the artists, teachers, and students who, through their creativity and enthusiasm, have made this collective project a true celebration of art and light.”
Themed evenings
On the two Fridays following the exhibition’s lighting, visitors are invited to participate in themed musical evenings at the Lumin’Art site. On December 12, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., JJ Morin and his guitar will provide a warm and relaxed atmosphere around the fire, playing classics from the 1980s. Under the stars, DJ Duffix will then get the audience dancing on December 19 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., again in an 80s atmosphere. Fireplaces and hot drinks will keep participants warm.
