Ecoprojects Community Fund: The public is invited to submit a project by February 28

The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is pleased to launch the fifth edition of the Ecoprojects Community Fund. Until February 28, citizens, non-profit organisations and public institutions in Vaudreuil-Dorion are invited to submit an environmental project they would like to implement that could benefit the community.

This year, selected initiatives could receive up to $7,500 for their implementation, compared to $5,000 in previous editions. The Ecoprojets Community Fund aims to encourage initiatives that promote the environment and its protection, in line with the themes of the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion’s Environmental Policy and Strategy, namely biodiversity, land use planning, waste management, financial resilience, urban agriculture and forestry, infrastructure and public safety.

"The Ecoprojets Community Fund is part of our commitment to promoting citizen participation. The budget has been increased to $7,500 this year so that applicants have the means to achieve their ambitions in a context where everything is becoming more expensive. I encourage citizen groups and organisations to take advantage of this opportunity to propose promising projects that will have a positive impact on the community", said Mayor Paul Dumoulin.

In 2025, three organisations received financial assistance for their projects through this fund: Brind’Amour Elementary School (Les Éco-Héros), Des Légendes Elementary School (Jardin scolaire) and Des Échos High School (Jardin Échos-Nourricier).

Some examples of projects that could be submitted under the Ecoprojects Community Fund:

  • Creating gardens for pollinators
  • Developing urban and food forests and planting trees in a network of connected plots of land
  • Workshops on environmental topics (e.g. waste, zero waste, etc.)
  • Organisation of workshops dedicated to self-repair of broken appliances, encouraging zero waste in the community
  • Clean-up campaign
  • Funding for an environmental education programme (e.g. cyclist awareness, scol’ERE carbon
    exchange)
  • Purchase of a community composter
  • Organisation of an environmental conference or event
  • Purchase of zero waste equipment for a public institution or non-profit organization
  • Implementation of a bicycle sharing system
