Vaudreuil-Dorion celebrates opening of Municipal Hub with time capsule to open in 2075
On the occasion of the official inauguration of its new Municipal Hub, combining city hall, library and public place, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion launched the Il était une fois 2025 - Et si vous pouviez parler aux générations futures project.
Installed in the heart of the new building, this time capsule will be sealed for 50 years, and will not be
opened until 2075. It will contain testimonials from citizens of all ages - children, teenagers, adults and
seniors - who will share messages, memories and stories about life in Vaudreuil-Dorion in 2025. These
messages, collected in written, audio and visual form, constitute a precious collective heritage.
"The time capsule is a symbolic gesture that will allow us to pass on a piece of our present to those
who will take over in half a century," said Mayor Guy Pilon. "It testifies to the community spirit that
drives Vaudreuil-Dorion and our desire to pass on our history, our values and our aspirations to future
generations."
Time capsule recording
Citizens will have the opportunity to record their message for the time capsule at the Fêtes de quartier,
which will take place every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the following parks:
- July 9: Briand park
- July 16: Vivaldi park
- July 23: Jean-Jacques-Bertrand park
- July 30: Lorne-Worsley park
- August 6: Parc de la Canardière
- August 13: Louise-Josephte park
- August 20: parc de Bel-Air
In addition to the Fêtes de quartier events, residents will also be able to record their message at various
events organized by the City throughout the summer. A feathered flag in the colors of the Il était une
fois 2025 graphic image will indicate the presence of the recording kiosk.
