National Drowning Prevention Week

To encourage safe behavior and prevent drownings, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion will hold various awareness-raising activities. 

Program

Monday, July 20

Creative Monday – Color in Water Safety! 

Children are invited to participate in a water-themed coloring activity led by lifeguards, offered at each of our outdoor pools. It’s a fun way to learn water safety rules while taking home their artwork.

  • Sainte-Madeleine and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Swimming Pools, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Tuesday, July 21

Creative evening: painting, watercolor, tie-dye, spray painting (graffiti), jewelry making, etc.

Led by lifeguards, a workshop on making water-themed bracelets, allowing young people to create their own bracelets while discussing best practices for water safety and drowning prevention.

  • Parc Paul-Gérin-Lajoie,  4 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

A “Biblio-parc” and water-themed creative workshop combining reading and hands-on activities to raise awareness among children and their families about water safety best practices in a fun way as part of the “Rythmes d’été” program.

  • Parc de la Maison-Valois, 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Wednesday, July 22 

Splash Brigade 

Water safety awareness activities with the Lifesaving Society. Public outreach events and day camps under the theme “The best rescue is the one you prevent.”

  • Saint-Jean-Baptiste Swimming Pool, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Fête de quartier 

A booth staffed by lifeguards offering water safety awareness activities. The evening concludes with a screening of *Lilo & Stitch*, preceded by a short segment on drowning prevention.

  • Parc Lorne-Worsley, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (film screening begins at 8 p.m.) 

Thursday, July 23 

Biblio-parc and Water-Themed Creative Activities

An activity that combines reading and creative activities to raise awareness among children and their families about water safety best practices in a fun way.

  • Parc Louise-Josephte, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Friday, July 24 

Temporary tattoos and water-themed stickers will be handed out to children during their visit to the pool. Lifeguards will take this opportunity to talk with families and reinforce key messages about water safety and prevention.

Samedi 25 juillet 

Movie by the Pool

Screening of a short water safety awareness video before the start of the movie Sponge Bob.
