Ecocentre

The Ecocentre gives citizens a convenient way to dispose of a multitude of residual materials that could be environmentally harmful. By encouraging recovery and valorization, it diverts a significant amount of waste from landfill and gives it a second life.

Winter and Fall (January 1 to March 31 and November 1 to December 31)

Accepted materials

The following materials may be brought to the Ecocentre:

  • Construction and excavation materials: ceramic, drywall, melamine, insulation, glass, windows, toilets, bathtubs and showers, asphalt, concrete, brick, stone, sand and gravel
  • Large metal items and ferrous materials: stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, ovens, water heaters, oil tanks, small appliances, miscellaneous power equipment, mowers, snowblowers, etc.
  • Non-metal, non-reusable large items: upholstered furniture, carpets, mattresses, plastic sheeting, etc.
  • Off-size tires
  • Tires with or without rims
  • Cardboard
  • Treated wood and plywood: lumber, wood furniture, pallets
  • Halocarbons: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers
  • Electronics: TVs, DVD/CD players, videocassette players, radios, computers, printers, audiovisual devices, etc.
  • Household hazardous waste: Only labelled, closed containers of 20 litres (5 gallons) or less are accepted.
  • Adhesives, epoxies, strippers, aerosols, CFLs, fluorescent or neon tubes, paint, AAA to D batteries (alkaline or rechargeable NiCd, NiMH, Li-ion or Pb), swimming pool chemicals, maintenance or cleaning products, propane tanks, home fire extinguishers, camping fuel canisters, compressed-gas cylinders, etc.

Materials not accepted

Materials from industrial, commercial, institutional or agricultural operations are not accepted. In addition, the following are not accepted at the Ecocentre:

  • Organic waste (branches, kitchen waste, leaves, grass clippings, tree trunks, sod, tree trimmings, etc.)
  • Earth (including sod)
  • Re-usable items (furniture, clothing, etc.)
  • Medication
  • Weapons and ammunition
  • Hydrofluoric acid and any item that may contain it
  • PCBs and any item that may contain them
  • Cyanide
  • Biomedical waste
  • Animal carcasses
  • Radioactive waste
  • Explosives including fireworks, flares, etc.
  • Asbestos

Waste collection rates

Residents of Vaudreuil-Soulanges may dispose of 12 m3 per year at no charge. Beyond that, a charge of $25/m3 applies. Proof of residency must be presented upon arrival at the Ecocentre.
