Conference: Patriotism in Skirts
Conference presented in collaboration with the Société de généalogie Vaudreuil-Cavagnal
At the beginning of the 19th century, the Canadian people sought to secure their rights and protect their freedoms. Even women became involved in the cause, going so far as to actively resist despotism! With some fifteen years of in-depth research and the publication of several books on the history of Quebec under the British Empire (1760-1867), Anne-Marie Sicotte paints a portrait of these women fighters of yesteryear, who campaigned, protested, loved... and suffered during the Patriotic Rebellions of 1837 and 1838.
