Evening meeting with Ingrid St-Pierre

March 21
7:30 p.m.
Free

Born in Cabano in the Lower St. Lawrence, Ingrid St-Pierre began singing before she could speak. Apart from the Latin songs she sang in church as a teenager, it was Marie-Jo Thério's Fais-moi danser François Hébert that revealed to her exactly what she wanted to do with her music. As much as she draws from it the desire to sing something tangible and realistic, she also rediscovers the very interior, even meditative, aspect of church songs.

She already won the public's seal of approval in 2011 with her debut album Ma petite m'amzelle de chemin, which showcases both the candor of youth and her pure, selfless passion for music. This earned her her first ADISQ nomination in the Revelation of the Year category. L'escapade, which she co-directed, was released in October 2012, and embodies her delicate tone and a pen that knows how to outline every detail, so that the stories set to music become short films to carry around with you. Tokyo, in 2015, opens with the grandeur of orchestrations, lending a new dimension to his stories. Then Petite Plage, in 2019, takes her into new explorations and an electro dressing that leads us to understand that all the roads of music can be hers.

Candide, but full of gratitude, Ingrid St-Pierre retains the self-doubt of someone who "hadn't planned to do this in life", and still marvels at each full house. The last few years have given her the urge to dream differently, closer to herself, which brings her back to the simplest expression of things, both in life and in music. After her instrumental album, Ludmilla, released in March 2022, she returned one piece at a time to the minuscule. In autumn 2022, the intimate extracts Mères and L'Onoclée laid the foundations for her sixth album, released in February 2023. For the rest of her life, she hopes to dream big from the heart of small things.
