Vaudreuil-Dorion celebrates Intergenerational Month

For the second year in a row, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, along with various partners and organizations on the territory, are inviting the public to attend the Rendez-vous intergénérationnels that will take place throughout the month of May. These events are divided into several activities that bring together people of all ages with the aim of encouraging relations between generations.

The purpose of this joint initiative is to bring together several generations, break isolation and promote an intergenerational exchange of knowledge, skills and life lessons in order to promote an open, inclusive and supportive society. Twinning initiatives between partners from different backgrounds will ensure the implementation of intergenerational activities for the population that are fun, educational, artistic and community oriented. Among other things, these activities will include an ancestral cooking class with high school students and senior volunteers, an intergenerational walk with booths hosted by various organizations, a nursing station where grandmothers can come chat and knit with new mothers, a picnic, a Ciné-club movie followed by a talk, a tree planting event, an art workshop and an alphanumeric literacy workshop.

"Working on Vaudreuil-Dorion’s Family and Seniors Policy has shed light on the importance of providing opportunities for community partners and citizens of different generations who live in the territory to come together and share. Although the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion acts as a coordinator for this unifying initiative, we owe the success of this project to the dynamic mobilization of some twenty community partners who understand the importance of building bridges between generations. Several new partners have joined the initiative for this second edition of the Rendez-vous intergénérationnels, which is very exciting!" explains Pascale Lauzon, Head of the Social Development and Diversity section.
