Water main flushing underway

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion wishes to inform its citizens that it will be carrying out unidirectional flushing work on the red (formerly Dorion) and blue (formerly Vaudreuil) aqueduct networks, as well as fire hydrant inspections, starting April 29, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., for about one month.

Flushing involves increasing the speed of water flow through the system to remove particles and debris that may form on the conduit walls. The operations are carried out using pre-determined flushing routes that promote better cleaning.

This large-scale operation can cause a slight drop in water pressure; it may also cause the water to be rust-coloured, which can lead to certain inconveniences such as stains on fabrics. Clothing and dishes should therefore be washed between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. on weekdays or at any time on weekends. If your water looks rusty, turn on the cold water in your bathtub and let it run until it is clear.
