From April 26th to April 29th, 2024, the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) will participate in a global bioblitz called the Défi nature urbaine, organized by the Réseau Biodiversité au campus, Technoparc Oiseaux and the Fédération canadienne de la faune. During these four days, residents from over 400 cities around the world will attempt to document as many species of wildlife and flora as possible using the free iNaturalist application.

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion is joining the movement by organizing a bioblitz at parc-nature Harwood on April 27th, starting at 9 am. During this free and registration-free activity, citizens will contribute to establishing the biodiversity profile in Vaudreuil-Dorion, while advancing urban conservation efforts.

What is a bioblitz?

A bioblitz is a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible. Bioblitzes are great ways to engage the public to connect to their environment while generating useful data for science and conservation.
