Lawn watering ban still in effect

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion reminds its citizens that the lawn watering ban is still in effect for all buildings served by its water system, including those located on the territory of the municipalities of Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, L'Île-Cadieux and Saint-Lazare.

Since the beginning of July, the data collected at the filtration plant show an average daily consumption of 20,500 m3 of water, which is equivalent to 600 litres of water per person. This is double the average consumption recorded outside the summer period.

During periods of extreme heat, there is no need to water the lawn. The lawn goes into dormancy, which means that it stops growing. With the return of the rainy weather, it will turn green again. Watering flowers, vegetable gardens and shrubs with a hand-held, self-closing gun, washing outside (cars, walls and windows) and adjusting the water level in pools and spas is still allowed.

Inspectors are present on the territory to enforce the watering ban and have the authority to issue notices and statements of offence to offenders.
